Locked out of your car again? Your car keys left inside your vehicle seem so near and yet so far. No worries, we’re here once again to help. In part one of this series, we’ve discussed how to safely break into your own car when the doors have manual locks. Today, we’ll discuss how to do it with automatic locks.
Unlocking A Car Door With Automatic Locks
Unlocking a door with an automatic lock isn’t easier or more difficult than a manual one. They are somewhat similar and the manner to unlock them is quite similar too.
It would be easier to unlock the door when the door can be easily pulled away from the body. Also, if the type of button or switch that opens or locks the door also play a part in how difficult it is to open. Plus, the location of this button can make unlocking easier or more difficult for you.
In some cases, it would be best to call a professional because they have experience in this kind of situation. But if you wish to do it on your own, here are the steps to follow:
- Find the unlock button – It may be found on the central console or it can also be found on the driver’s side. This is your target so make sure you find it first before you do anything.
- Find a tool you can use to press the button – There are some automatic lock switches that can easily be pressed by simply applying pressure on it. On the other hand, there are others that may require a hook at the tip for you to use the switch. The best way for you to figure this out is to simply try it.
A Few Tips:
- A clothes hanger that has been straightened can be a great tool to use. You can bend the tip into a hook shape to make it easier to hook the switch.
- If you can’t find a tool to use, you can try to use the antenna of your vehicle. Unscrew it and use it to push the unlock button.
