Thanks to some bad actors, bad press, and an overall misconception of the work we do, the towing business has a pretty poor reputation in the public domain.
Believe it or not though, most of us towing owners and operators love helping other out in their time of need, so I always try to look out for positive stories that shine the light on the GOOD that we do.
So today we’ve have compiled a few such wonderful stories that paint the towing service industry in a very different and wonderful light.
Tow truck driver in a bid to rescue a dog ends up rescuing the owner
Our first positive towing story happened back in September, 2018 in Oakhurst, California in a remote mountainous region near the city.
A tow truck driver by the name of Marty Hall Jr. spotted a dog running around without anyone holding on to its leash. The tow truck driver in a bid to save the dog went after it but the dog would not stop for him.
He then followed the dog and that is when he found another dog and an old man who had gotten hurt during his morning walk and was unable to move.
He helped the old man to medical attention and saved the man’s life as a few more hours and the old man would have succumbed to dehydration and exhaustion.
Tow truck driver saves two overdose victims
A tow truck driver called Heriberto Virella in Westchester county ended up being the unlikely savior for two men who had overdosed while driving. He was patrolling his route when he heard a loud noise.
He quickly drove to the direction of the noise to find two men slumped over, drooling, and unconscious at the site of an accident. He immediately called the emergency services who responded in a timely manner. The men were checked into a hospital and survived.
If it hadn’t been for Heriberto, these two people would have most certainly died as the accident was on a remote road.
Tow truck driver valiantly saves a woman during shooting
A lady by the name of Sherry Williams was signing the release forms for her car on Burgundy Street in Raleigh, North Carolina when she heard guns being fired.
Like many other people, she froze in place and would have gotten shot had not a tow truck driver called Johnnie Jones pulled her down while himself getting shot in the elbow.
Rarely do people put themselves in harm’s way to protect strangers, but this gentleman proved that tow truck drivers can be really compassionate too.
Tow truck driver saves a man from certain death
A 69-year old woman was having her car towed when the keen-eyed tow truck driver by the name of Robert Hooper spotted something blue in the foliage. He immediately went to look and found a crashed car with a man who had been trapped there for a long time.
Robert immediately sprang into action, gave him whatever help he could till the medical personnel could attend to the injured man.
Again, it was the attentiveness and calm nature of a tow truck driver that saved a person’s life who had almost no chance of making it out alive.
Tow truck driver saves women stranded during heavy snowfall
Tis is another heartwarming incident that took place in Lowcountry, South Carolina. A woman called Lauren Brown had driven to a store to buy food for her children and on her way back ran into car trouble. She was ten miles from her home and her phone was dead.
Fortunately, Quiozel Simmons, a tow truck driver, drove by and Lauren was able to catch his attention. Simmons helped her out by fixing her car and sending her on her way and the best thing about all this is that he did not charge a single penny for his help. He proved that humanity still exists.
Tow truck driver saves a child from a burning car
There are few things as tragic as a child being trapped in a burning car.
Thankfully in the case of 7-year old Damarcus Jenkins who was trapped inside a car being engulfed in flames, tow truck driver Andrea Harris was around to save the day.
He punched a hole in the window with his bare hands and grabbed the child and pulled him out to safety.
The mother of the child was sure that had Harris not reacted the way he did, this incident could have had a really tragic end.

These are just some of the thousands of such stories that shows tow truck drivers are actually very helpful people and it is high time that the public changes their perceptions about them and the industry as a whole.
